Appreciate it! Started off with 1 pair, then went on the hunt for other cons from different breeders to mix bloodlines. Currently have fish from 6 different breeders and from over 1300 miles apart. Still working on getting more from other breeders to work a cleaner line as I have been told by various fish importers that the convict stopped being brought into North America in the early to mid 1980's. This resulted in far too many people breeding brothers and sisters over and over and over again and flooding the market. The other thing is so many people have crossed them somewhere with something, again resulting in all these short body convicts or jellybeans some call them which are absolutely horrendous looking, as well as the fire cons, or cons crossed with Texas or a Jag or whatever. Not going to get into the debate of whether the jellybean is a cross with a parrot cichlid or resulted from someone having two short bodies in a batch of from regular adults. Now, it is difficult to find them with nice body shape, and decent coloration. Hopefully this summer I will pick up cons from 3 different cities ranging 300 miles East of me and 2 others 480 miles North-West and 480 miles North North-West. The hunt continues!
