Lol that was on 40 greatest reality tv moments. I forget what number it was, but somewhere in the top 20. You gotta admit, it takes some guts to bite into a fish and kill it like that. :D

Yeah, seriously.

I know someone who actually did that... he was going to go on his own version of Man vs. Wild in the Rocky Mountains. He practiced on a beautiful rainbow trout that I caught. It was pretty ballsy, but nasty too. :p

I don't think bear grylls is a fraud atall! like alexeuk said theres no way he could say the things that he has said hes done without being slaughtered by the SAS and the media.

Im sure that if you have watched most of his series, and ended up getting stranded in some jungle, you'd be glad you had watched his programmes.

Oh and btw Esfa..... i dont see ray mears jumping in quick sand then showing you how to get out? :shifty:

I agree with who ever said about the survivor man....... he is the real deal, im not saying bear grylls isnt, but that guy has it bad with all the cameras he has to set up

No, but i also dont see him telling you to scale a cliff to eat ONE egg, i also dont see him telling you to drink your own urine, and to drink elephant poo. Both of which wont help you survive at all. Also, I don't see Ray Meers cruelly killing animals for no reasons. Take the snake for example, he ate it alive. Apparently the snake will still feel immense pain for a few hours before it finally dies. Very cruel, and not necessary at all.

i totally agree.. he doesnt HAVE to eat them and put the animals through horrible pain just so he looks like hes doing his job. i

the bloke is an idiot of the highest order. If you watch the credits at the end of the show it says Bear (not even his real name) has a survival expert with him

Grylls' show is just terrible.

It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't give advice that would get you killed. I watched an episode where he put some plastic bags into a backpack and claimed they would keep him afloat as he went down white-water rapids. You could see that he was wearing a lifejacket under his clothes in most of the shots.

It's one thing to try and make something dramatic. It's another to give bad advice for life-or-death situations. Someone is going to listen to what he says one day and die. That's why his show is bad.

I think he is a real Survivor. But i have noticed on thing that annoys me terribly. In the begging, he says that he will be miles away from contact, and will film himself. But, then why do they show shots of him walking in a jungle, and keeping up to speed with him. Or why do they have shots of him catching a fish with BOTH hands? It dosent make sense. Soemthing tells me he has a camera crew.

I don't like this guy either, I think he's doing things more for shock value than public education. I'm a big survivorman fan. He even did a show on how he films his episodes, he IS dropped in the middle of nowhere and does all his own filming. He does admit that if things get too dangerous he'll call his crew and get lifted out of there...at least he's honest.

Ray Mears might look like an oversized boy scout, but when you watch his shows not only do you see someone enjoying the wilderness, respecting the people and animals that live there, but he's giving you information that could genuinely keep you going. :good:

Somehow, in the real world I dont think "run as fast as you can, jump in as many fast flowing dangerous rivers, scale as many ravines by swinging off trees and grab some "protein" everytime something moves as you sprint past it" actually works. If your 50 miles from the nearest help, you might want to pace yourself a bit!
