Basenji Puppy!

Much as i'd love to rescue a dog, it would be for showing and breeding so it would have to be very young to be trained, and from top showing lines.. Which i've never seen in a rescue before

Edit: You beat me to it bloozoo

Are you looking for just a little dog?

If you live on a farm...

Border Collie's are magnificant...and so cool of a dog. I would love to have one and play in FlyBall Competitions.

Rough Collie's are also quite grand....A male is just beautiful..with his full mane...although lot's of grooming is required though.

Australian Shephards are also quite beautiful. especially the blue merl ones  .

Thanks for that SRC, i'd love any of those

But we're looking for a 'table dog' (one that is shown on a table rather than free standing) which is why im leaning more towards the pug than the elkhound.

I think all of those ones are just too big and too much grooming  I'd love a border collie for agility though! We're going to have a go with my lab next year, should be interesting

Have you thought about Miniature Schnauzers by any chance ?
We've had a number of them over the years - and again coming form a big dog person - they are really lovely little dogs. Very intelligent and definitely trainable. Our fist one could roll over and give his paw at the age of 7 weeks - on demand ! He was truly amazing and lived to the wonderful age of 16.

He had an uncropped tail and I have to say it was his true beauty and crowning glory - a shame really that they still crop them these days just for aesthetic reasons (obviously the vast majority of them are not working dogs) but anyhow that debate's already been had to death and infinity

Our other two (still alive) have cropped tails and the little stumps are cute - but not as attractive as the lovely uncropped tails.

To be honest im not a big fan of schnauzers bloozoo. We have several of them at the ring craft classes and they seem a bit snappy with the other dogs.. Not to mention the fact that they scream rather than bark

Maybe we just have evil ones there though  Also, they need trimming dont they? We'd prefer short haired or no trimming

Ahhh perhaps the South African breeding lines are different to the UK - screaming dogs are not my favourite either  and ours don't snap ever - at all ever.
But could be because they are all trained from a young age :dunno:

Yep, they do indeed need clipping every so often, so perhaps not for you then

Go with pug

Ok..small table size dog, little to no trimming...not snappy or rude...very cute....

**computes information**

Wire Fox Terrier....as soon as one of my other dogs dies (which won't be for a while since both are so healthy..not that I am complaining lol) I am going to get one of these.

They are smart, they mind, they are good with kids, they are easy to maintain, they are perky and friendly, and they are SOOOOO freakin cute..especially the puppies.

What about shih tzus. We have two. They're great little dogs. Loving and caring. They need to have a hair cut once every couple of months. I brush and bathe mine regularly though.
Here's my Mazi, she's from a rescue from a cruelty that my shelter did.

And there's the two of them playing.

They're sweet dogs. I adore them.

There's also beagles too. I love beagles, they're my favorite breed. Extremely sweet natured. And they love attention. And just want to loaf around and hang out with you all day. I grew up with a beagle that my mom has. She's wonderful. I love her.

i've always wanted a miniture schnauzer! but mainly because of Colin in Spaced.

don't pugs get breathing problems because of their squished up face?
