I saw a barracuda in my lfs the other day, and they had it in a 125 gallon tank filled with dwarf lions  . What do you think the minimum tank size for one of these monsters would be? I didnt think you could actually buy a barracuda but apparently you can  . Has anyone kept one?

I would guess in the thousands! I only ever saw Red Tail Barracuda for freshwater before.

Well, I've swam with 4-5ft long barracuda on the reef... I dont think I'd keep one in captivity in anything less than a 30 foot long tank.

Baracuda are mentioned in Reef Fishes Volume 1. None of the family are considered anywhere near small enough for a home aquaria, but can make interesting displays for public aquaria.

As noted, these are large, inflexible fish that swim in the more open areas of a reef.

The internet store I order from sells 4'' barracudas for $36. Hopefully, they have only sold a few of them; the species can reach 6' in length, is dangerous, and requires a rediculously huge tank (as above).

As a scuba fanatic, the sea if the only place for these fish and I think any attempt at keeping them in anything than a public aquarium is criminal. Sorry for the blunt opinion but some things are best left untouched.
