Barbs,yoyo and corydoras

Absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for sharing!
Oh man, I want this exact tank!! Never had barbs, but so much activity in here, so wonderful to watch! All the fish chunky and healthy, and growing large! Some lovely huge chunky girl bronzes there ;) Gonna guess the yoyo is a female too, going by the chunky body shape

So many cory species! Saw a gold laser, wow! And others that I'd love to have, but can't remember the names of right now.

I love everything about this. The hardscape, the planting (saw the limnophilia sessiflora, one of my favs! I have that too), the yoyos, cories and barbs- beautiful

The yoyo is definitely female AdoraBelle and there are three of them in there.
Sessiliflora was the very first plant I ever had in a 55g.They grow very fast in a gravel or sand substrate, but can be guilty of growing a little tall and spindly, but plant them into a base layer of nutrient rich soil and they grow lush, thick and green.I had this said soil in the 55g and the sessiliflora grew up to,and along the surface and looked amazing, but beware, dig the gravel vac too deep and into a soil base layer can cause a MAJOR Ammonia leach.
There is a full list of the corydoras species, and the rest of the species list in my “Forrest scape” planted tank journal.I have since added three yellow corys that are not on the list.

Haha, I love limnophilia sessiflora, have been a fan since I first got it, and end up recommending it a lot for both it's fast growing properties helping with water quality, and the fact that it will grow right to the surface, and provide a dense hiding area for fish full the full height of the tank. Great for fry!

I used it to create a wall of plant around the sponge filter to hide it from view, and it was a favourite spot for fry and shrimp to hide in! :D I love how it's like a soft fluffy cloud of plant with that beautiful green, but how the tops can change colour once it's at the surface, even developing some red. Beautiful and helpful plant :)

I am not a fan of collections instread of shoals but all your fish look marvelous !
Funny you should say that DoubleDutch,as my initial plan, when I first purchased an aquarium was to have a species tank, tiger barbs to be exact.I started with 18 tigers (not added all at once haha).A few didn’t make it,but instead of topping the shoal back up with more tigers,I opted for a small shoal of pentazonas. Now this would appear like chalk and cheese,as pentazonas are shy and retiring while tigers are “known” fin nippers.
Well 2yrs later and the pentazonas are the only fish in the tank that hasn’t lost a member of the shoal, not one, great wee fish by the way.
I never planned on having a big shoal of a certain species of corydoras, but rather a few species, with each species made up of half a dozen fish.Things turned a little weird when the corydoras I put in started to whittle down until only two were left of each species. This was peculiar because somewhere along the line one would expect maybe for only one to die,or the whole shoal, but no,there were always two left lol. This has happened with almost all the corys I’ve put in the tank apart from the albinos, which are three strong in numbers.
Out of the original 18 tigers, there are 5 left,of which the two in the video are full size.I put all this down to natures way of keeping the strongest. Those two tigers never bother the other fish, they are old and wise ha.
The green barbs are without doubt the worst fin nippers out of all the barbs in the tank.

Yes the sessiliflora can have a lovely pink/red hue on the top whorls. When I had it in dense bunches in the 55 the water was gin clear, something I put down to the filtering abilities of this plant👍
Your sessiliflora looks really healthy, lush and green,as do all your plants.
What are the floating plants AdoraBelle, they look amazing with their long roots.
Stunning looking tank by the way, quite perfect

Aaaww, thank you! It's not looking quite the same now after some stocking changes, but I did/do love it :)

The long-rooted floating plant is Amazon frogbit! Seangee has a much more stunning tank where his is all to one side, and the roots are super long and trailing down together - those photos of his tank made me get amazon frogbit! The fish do like hiding among those long roots too. I loved seeing a gourami in another of my tanks elegantly wind his way through the long roots, hunting for food among them. Beautiful sight.

The only real downside is that if you're doing tank maintenance and the roots have just got too long, they can get all untidy and tangled looking, or get caught up on some hardscape. But you can easily trim them really short when that happens, or if they're bugging you, and the plant won't care and will just grow them long again within a few days/weeks ;)

I love the frogbit, but I also really want to try red root floaters soon, if I can get my hands on some. Beautiful looking.

Well the Amazon frog it looks great.I doubt I could have it since I have plant munchers ha.
I have salvinia and the roots don’t grow like the way the frogbit does. The powerhead is very strong so I need to let the leaves broaden more so it’s not constantly being churned under the surface.I have it in a plastic ring just now,but I can’t wait to set it free to float around the surface.I’ve never seen red root floaters, but they certainly sound the part.

I have red root floater in my shrimp tank (I did have it in my main tank till a couple of weeks ago but removing it was the only way to get rid of the duckweed which found its way in). Its shape and size is a bit like salvinia. I got mine on-line.
