I have seen my once in a tank a banded leporinus, and I feel in love with them  . I have fond that they r really good jumpers, aggressive, get to be 12 inches long, they live in fast current rocky areas, they r sometimes aggressive to their own kind, and that they eat live plants.
I would like more info though. So here r my questions,

1. I have some mondo grass in my tank and was wondering if it would have a feast on it.

2. what r some good tank mates for them?

3. would an under gavel filter be fine with them?

4. should they be kept single or in how big of a group?

~help needed

any other info is welcome

some good tank mates would be...water... unless u have a very large tank with plenty of territory space i wouldnt suggest getting one of these fish. i have one and painfully realised they dont like barbs. For these fish i have found that they will be ok in a 75+ US gallon tank and need to be with similar sized fish, and yes the jumper thing is very true. On a lighter not i agree with u, they are beautiful fish!

ummm, depending on the size of the catfish, i didnt have any problems with my pictus cats, just make sure there are enough hiding places, as for the clown loach i have never kept them so i am not sure, i guess they would be ok as long as they did not get in each others way. it really comes down to the size of ur tank.

my tank is small so i should just keep one banded leporinus. it's a ten gallon....

If your tank is only ten gallons then dont keep any banded leporinus ;)

CFC is definitely right, although i realize that it is a bit hypocritical of me to say seeing as how i have one in a ten gal, however i am currently in the works of purchasing a 90 US gal for an awesome price so he will have a new home soon (he is only 4 inches at the moment).

I feel that clown loaches would not be good tankmates with a leporinus. Curious and active clowns would probably provoke the leporinus too much. Clowns shouldn't be kept in a 10 gallon either, they need a tank of at least four feet long.
