:p

On occasion I usually feed my cichlids and loaches a sliver of banana and they love it. Yesterday I was in the betta room doing some things while my kiddo ate a nana, she asked if I'd give the rest to the frontosa and I told her she had to wait just a minute but that I would. She then asked if maybe the bettas would want it. I used to feed them a tropical frozen food with bananas and they liked it so I told her to go ahead and throw a chunk in the red tank. She did and they went bonkers for it. They ate every last sliver.

It would probably be hard to feed it to individual bettas, but if you have a female community it might be worth a try as a treat now and then.

Let me add, for your fish and for YOU, that you should always, always, always wash the banana before opening it. Bananas are listed in the top 10 dirtiest foods

They're actually covered in e-coli  They say it's from monkey poo :hey:

I've just made a point to scrub mine with soap and a brush when I bring them home from the store.

Wuv!!! i hate you!!! i was eating a freaking banana while i was reading this! i looked at it...then it..."jumped" in the trash. bananas are sooo crazy.:p jumping in the trash

It's the monkey poo that makes them such good jumpers :)
Now go wash your hands...

Bananas are a stable in the beefheart mixed that most discus people feed. They have lots of good stuff in them and all fish seem to love them.

I only found this out last year when a local news channel did a list of the top 10 filthiest foods. I was quite shocked as I'm a real bacteria nerd and I'd of never thought of that.

I know Hikari makes a Tropical mixed frozen food with bananas and carrots etc. I tried it a couple of times and it went over well, but I stopped using it because the carrots float and my fronts won't feed off the surface. So now they just get straight chunks from the center and it goes over well.

I'll take the risk, I've been eating bananas for 24 years now and I'm still alive, hey, call me a risk taker but I like an un-scrubbed banana

I might however wash it if I was giving it to my fish, as they are just a *touch* more sensative than I am :)
