Banana Plants

If you break off a banana from the bunch on the plant, will it grow?

On one of my banana plants, the whole bunch of bananas broke off, naturally, sent the leaves up to the top of the tank in two bunches, and I planted both bunches and they are doing great.

If you're asking if an individual "banana" can be broken off and planted, I think the ansewr is no. I've had many get broken off indivually and they've started new growth. If you had a whole bunch of them break off, I believe that is how they propigate. There's a good article here at "The Krib" on Nymphoides aquatica (banana plant).
