My dad has asked (kindly) :hey:
If he could have a bala shark for his birthday :/
I can't really say no due to all the stuff he has done for this tank
The only problem is, it will be the first fish in there, I'm just wondering if it will get territorial?
I will be adding a gourami and angelfish in afterwards, just wondering if he goes in first he might pester the other fish and be territorial
If anyone knows please reply
Thank-you
Also, I have got LIVE plants for my tank, Wondering How long I need to keep the aquarium lights on

I wanted a couple of these some time ago and read up quite a bit on them.

Silver Sharks are community fish, so they shouldn't get territorial being the first fish in the tank. IMO, you should get a pair of them, though, not just one. Depends on how big your tank is.

Bare in mind that they grow to about 13", so anything less than a 55 Gallon is a no-no for Balas.

Do make sure you have a secure lid on your tank, however. 'Else you may find him on the floor in the morning one time.

I had a Bala Shark in a 30-Gallon with some Tetras and smaller fish (Neons, Danios, etc.) and he got along just fine with them. :-D

Don't have him anymore (RIP) I still have no clue why he died, I had him for several months before he kicked the bucket. :( Biggest he got was about 4 inches.
