Next time wait for bigger tank. One reason I like this forum people dont hold thier tounge.

If too sensitive for that.......

It always suprises me when people say they bought a fish they know was not appropiate, then say they have time to get new tank. Why not just wait til you have right tank then purchase. There are no shortages of fish that can go into a 10 gallon
i didn't realise the size they grew to when I got him. But did researching after, kind of did it the wrong way round.

I dont mind people not holding their tongue, because I wont either.....

I like this forum too, there are a lot of people who know what they are talking about, thats how you learn, but it seems that some folk may not understand that.

What can you say...
My reply might involve:

- Not plenty of time as they grow quickly
- Risk of stunting is high
- Need to be in a group
- Jumping is no surprise from above

- Don't ask for info unless you are prepared to hear it or change your profile to explain

All this has been repeated time and time again. I mean what to say that already hasn't been said...

In spite of the wealth of info available to us on the web, many people still disregard (or worst still just don't do any) research and won't listen to past experience, keeping fish that may be totally unsuitable with the person's tank. I don't want to point fingers because I was like that when I first started out too, but after I read some stuff, all that soon changed. This is the key factor: research into the well being of your animal, whatever it may be. In doing so you gain the knowledge that will ensure your pet lives as good a life as it can.

We should always try to provide the best for our fish as they are in our complete care, and a simple wrong move on our part may have serious consequences for them. Did you know that it is believed that the first year of many fishes growth is very important, and if kept in inappropriate conditions during that period, may lead to the fish not acheiving it's full potential, physically as well as not living to expected age.

So like someone else said on this thread, go for the fish that are suitable for your tank, and then if you want bigger fish, get them when you have the appropriate requirements.

JMO.
