Badis

Badis would love that fast food dinner tank! No sorry it just won't work, it may interest you to know that there has been another recent Badis discussion on the forum take a look ;)

Hmmm...I've never had rummy noses but as long as whtever it is stays about the same size as a danio, and swims near the upper middle to top part of the tank, it should be fine. My badis will only attempt to eat small guppies, not full grown ones. Only fry, juviniles and almost full grown males :D

threadfins stay at the top too. Rummynoses are tetras that get to be 2" and are all over the tank. Mostly Mid-Top. Also I have 5 pieces of wood to sort of seperate them.

I dont mean to put a downer on this but if he gets hungry he will eat, and fish dont always stick to their respective levels all the time so every now and then chance meatings do occur........especially if sinking food is added in to the tank your wee fishys will follow it wont they? my old threadfins used to be where food was

IMO the Rummys would be in serious danger, they are small narrow fish that are easily swolled by a predator like a Badis.

whats a badis??? can i have the sceintific name please, so i can research it

There are two subspecies of this fish Badis badis badis: Badis badis siamensis and Badis badis burmanicus. The former is blue and the later predominantly red. Both are small, carnivorous fishes that look rather like some South American Dwarf Cichlids. Sometimes known as chameleonfishes, they come from still waters in India, and are relatively peaceful Miscellameous fishes. A great little fish but as some may know they won't hesitate to eat smaller tankmates.

Here's mine, they act like SA dwarf cichlids too
