Everything has been fine since i restocked my tank....water paramenters always perfect...regular large water changes...both externals performing correctly...2 heaters so temp is consitently 28c...

Then in the last 3 days my Female Rotkeil has been layign on her side...breathign rapidly and the other fish have been munchign her fins...

I kept seperating in a bucket for some time out etc and putting her back in....shes not ate for 3 days...

I thought maybe she just had soemthing wrong...liek a birth defect as all my other stock is fine...

The today my Red Headed Tapajo is doing the same thing :S

Everythign else is fine...my Rotkeil looks liek she will die in the next day or 2...and the Tapajo looks to be heading the same way :(

It don't make sense.....why is it always the expensive fish that die of mystery illness's? and the cheaps thing liek Tetras etc continue to swim around like nothings going on... gah!

mate i feel for ya. reminds me of when my 8 inch rotkeil suddenly started to rip into vinny my red spotted so i arranged to re-home it bagged it up and within 10 mins of being in the bag it went belly up and died. it sucks bigtime i know and p----es you right off but dont let it beat you weve all had times when we go why do i bother but if you did break your tank down you would end up regretting it for sure.

Trust me I am in the same situation :( My female HRP has dropsy got her issolated and treating her and I have dosed the tank everyone else seems okay but if she dsnt make it going to be gutted.

When ever I have had pairs I always always loose the female?? My female angel died and so did my female keyhole and now female HRP, dont understand it at all.

Stress stress stress. Stress kills and sometimes realy fast. You might be loseing females if the males are bothering them too much.

Find the cause of the stress. It's not always easy to do I know. We have all lost fish it's sad and never fun. I'm sorry good luck with the rest.

Yeah kind of agree the keyholes and angels were a long time ago. I actually think the angel had complications with the eggs as she had like a small bulge on her sides not just bloated just egg bound and died a few days later. The keyhole was just out of the blue no warning but no scaring.

Female HRP just didnt deflate after breeding on saturday and its just got worse now she has really deteriated over the past 24hrs. Think I am going to just keep lone species from now on till I have 2 decent sized set ups to swap fish around in to avoid males attention etc.

Both the Tapajo and my Rotkeil died tonight :( doubt i will replace them now...everything else seems fine :S

Will do a 10% wc everyday just incase there is something nasty in my water that i can't pin point.

Would of thought if there was anything bad my Tetras would of died first :S

I may just stick to one Red Spot Severum that i already have and get another big shoal of fish.

Sorry man :( maybe ask wilder in the disease section they are fantastic with help, just to help you rule out any kind of disease.

aww that sucks that your rotkiel didn't make it, beautiful fish.
im winning at the moment against a very serious ich infestation but i was pretty sad when i thought my blue ac wasnt going to survive

Disease outbreaks suck. You can never act fast enough with your prized fish. Sucks aquariums are so closed in, disease spreads like the plague.

The most sucky thing about disease is when it has no visible signs (like this time) and you cant figure out what it is! i'm just hoping my other fish dotn get it...if they do, i'll deffo give up for a little while..probably just keep something simple like a Oscar after a short break.

Really gutted tho because i was really into my Tapajos :(

My Partner has just bought me a early xmas present ..a Puppy...so i'm sure that will keep me busy over Xmas :p Still very gutted...just had to be my 2 most expensive and prize fish! :(

Thanks for the comments tho guys :)

a couple of stab in the dark type suggestion here but have you checked your heater? also hve you got a traditional style thermometoer in the tank? maybe its cracked and leaked something toxic into the water?

I have 2 300 watt heaters and they both seem to be ok and yeh i got one of those old skool sucker/glass thermometers
