I know how you feel . When I got my tank, one whole panel was broken when I opened the box then I took it straight back, had the manager open a new one so I could see, and the bottom was cracked on that one . Then finally, he took out a different one from another company that was not cracked , and let me have it.

Regarding plants:
I have a 1 gal, so I only have one plant, an Elodea Densa. Just one long branch.
I like my Elodea Densa, and it apparently likes me too, 'cause it's been sprouting roots and branches!! 3 root/branch combinations in the last 10 days!
Maybe it has to do with the lots of lighting I put in, but in the past plants were brownish. Now, actually thriving.
