New tank setup about six months ago with various rocks, live plants and three pieces of bogwood. Two pieces are relatively flat, however the last piece is kind of an odd barrel shape with lots of character. It also has a couple of holes in it, one of which was quite deep, unfortunately I only found this out two nights ago.
I recently bought 2 three inch clown loaches to go with the pair of smaller ones that are already established.
True to form the new clowns disappeared in to hiding only venturing out once in while. However one of them disappeared for quite a while, and the water started to cloud slightly - PANIC MODE
Had to dismantle half of a 200 litre tank to remove this piece of bogwood with the hole and yes my guess was correct, the clown was wedged upside down at the far end of this hole - dead.
Have taken a 13mm hole saw to the back of the bogwood to open out this dead end of a cave.
Lesson for others reading this, make sure your bogwood has no hidden dead ends. Unfortunately I had to learn the hard way
