Hey everyone - I'm baaaaack (for anyone who actually remembers me anyways lol).

Just thought I'd tell you all about my discovery of a fantastic all-purpose kinda med called Bactonex. Well...maybe you guys already had it where you are but I'd never seen it before & it works like a charm - fixed my fighter's very stubborn tailrot in just 2 doses. Is perfectly safe for snails, cats, baby fishies, & all the rest of it. :D

Soooo there you go....I'm gonna post some piccies up of my beautiful betta Merlin soon, when his tail is completely healed (nearly there).

Cyas!!

I have no idea - the guy at my new (very awesome) LFS filled me a small 30mL empty dechlorinator bottle for me & gave it to me for $3!! It's rather watery in consistency, but has a greenish tinge (but no copper).

Having said that - despite being cured of his aweful tailrot for nearly 2wks, my poor little guy has headed down very fast today of some mystery non-tailrot-related illness that I strongly suspect is related to our tap water around here. I did a small water change for him yesterday, but did not add bactonex (for the obvious reason that he's cured), but when I rang the LFS guy this morning, he said that the reason he had to start adding bactonex at all of his water changes was because the tap water here had suddenly started being of terrible quality, & he kept losing all his fish. One supplier said that the day after a water change he had lost around 10,000 fishies!!! So.....I drained the bactonex bottle to give him 3/4 of his dose, & now I am really really REALLY hoping that he pulls through. Will tell you tomorrow just how brilliant the new stuff really is (hopefully!!).

Thanx for the welcome back, too. =)

Well turns out that 3/4 of the dose wasn't enough - poor guy died this morning :-( Someone I know went up to my LFS yesterday to get a fighter & the guy sold here something with melaleuca (an Australian?? tree extract, maybe Melafix???, she's not sure)....anyways, the guy said she needed to add it everytime she changes his water coz lately the water here has just turned to <bad> & this stuff's a preventative.

Anyways, after that sidetrack - I stand by my Bactonex, great great product.

:rip: Merlin :(
