LMAO! We all could be rich as fools! Rich as fools I say! :p They are very common over here though, along with Galahs. They can reach pest proportions, so authority's often have to kill them in quantities. :( Bloody noisy bugers, and as QoutheRaven found, theyll make short work of your lawn!

you know everything someone metions galah's i just can't shake the image of alf stuart from home an away many moons ago saying 'you flaming galah's'

dunno why that always makes me laugh

Oh so tempted to catch and sell

£24k sitting right there in your back garden.......

I bet your garden never looked so expensive

That's amazing. How beautiful.

Dam export laws, protecting other countries environments, I could be rich! :p

are the galahs sweet-natured? my grandmother's got an yellow-naped amazon (<--not actual name) and while fascinating, he pretty regularly draws blood and has on multiple occassions leapt off his cage to chase my aunts across the room (which is HILARIOUS btw )

i like to think that i want to own a parrot one day, but i'm not interested in one that might on a whim turn around and bite a finger off you.

We get them here too!

I dont live far from Quotheraven thats why!

We get beautiful pink and grey ones too (the galah, and I have a orange king parrot that I feed every day as well.

That means you won't get a parrot then. Even the sweetest tamest parrot can be unpredictable during the breeding season. Amazon males are notoriously aggresive and unpredictable when they are hormonal.

no, i mean i don't want one that is quite literally able to break bones if it choses to bite you. which is a reason that i will never, ever get a large parrot. and while i realize that all parrots are fairly unpredictable, i also know that some are more even-tempered than others. for example, the Amazon of which i spoke is well-known to be pretty irritable and aggressive. not a species which i would have recommended to a pair of elderly novice bird-owners, but then i wasn't consulted on the issue.

thus i suppose that i am soliciting advice about where galahs fit into a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is "one-eyed, one-horned, giant purple people-eaters" and 1 is "sulks when not fed cookies before dinner"

Oh id say around 5, LOL. But it depends on the particular specimen, and whether or not you hand rear them. Ive been attmepting to train my bird (I didnt have her from birth though, she was adult/adolesent when I got her), before she laid eggs she was on my arm, after she laid eggs, she makes me bleed and pulls my hair out! LOL Im going to attmept to do so again in the off season though. :)

id love to wake up And see all those birds on my lawn but i expect the novelty would wear off
