what is that black background that i see in alot of tanks? is that just a picture thing to make it look better or a permenant layout? thanks for the answers...
 
Sometimes its a plastic picture, sometimes people paint the back of the tank. Either way it's just for looks. Theres actually a poll going on about it right now in the Tropical Chit Chat section of this forum :nod:
 
backrounds are just scenes that people put on the back of the awuarium to hide the wall,excessive tubing, and cords that are behind your tank. they are sold at basically every lfs or lps that has fish. you don't technically have to have one but it makes the tank look more desireable (sorry if i spelled that wrong)
 
It does show up the colours of the fish and may help to create a calmer atmosphere if one side of the tank is dark. Most people stick something on to the outside of the tank, as that makes it easy to change and you don't have to worry about the safety of the fish. Doesn't have to be anything expensive; a lot of us use black plastic bin liners!
