Hi all. I originally set up my tank two months ago and foolishly put Cabomba Carolina in the background. This at a rate of an inch a day which I don't have an issue with as I prune them weekly. What I don't like is the brown shoots that emerge frm all areas of the stem as it grows. Therefore I won't to replace them with something better looking, slower growing and tidier. I like the look of Eustralis stellata, has anyone got any other good suggestions. Tank stats in signature

I have got some hygrophila angustifolia in my tank already but would like to plant the back two thirds with something bushy (similar in mass to Eustralis), so Vallisneria isn't really an option. Any other ideas?

I'm afraid I can't be of much help to your background plant issue as jungle vallis is my go-to answer for about everything in that milieu. I suppose my 2nd place go-to would be Wisteria, as that can be pretty darned (as in "aggressively") bushy, but it's also prone to send out roots from odd places along the stem, or branches, or anywhere really.

Actually, the real reason I'm responding is to ask what that neat little plant in the bottom right corner of your signature pic is . . . I'm looking for some new foreground plants and whatever that is is just . . . sweet. Care to help a brother out?

I may have thrown you a curve ball there. It is ROTALA NANJESHAN, it will get quite tall if left alone. However, I snip the tops off and replant to keep it at a size I like. It was growing under T5 light and ferts alone and it was struggling a bit, but since I started adding Flourish Excel it seems to be doing well

Get some Hygrophila Polysperma Rosanaveg (or australis, its the same thing) I put some in my tank and within 10 days it doubled in height. You can then cut it off and replant, doubling your amount in no time at all. Its also a very beautiful plant with a rosy tinge to the top leaves.
