Could be the journey, an hour is quite long. Perhaps you can divise a better method for transporation. I think tri-mar send eels mail order, they have them in a polystyrene box. Maybe some stress coat in the water would help.

if I get another eel i'll probably get him mail order.

as for my tank... all normal parameters are normal and all my other fish are normal (except for my tetra who I suspect may have velvet *shakes a fist* noticed that last night)

No gouramis with the betta. They're the same species and are not compatible. I have 2 german blue rams. They have grown to about 1 1/2 inches and they get more beautiful every day. They won't get much bigger though and sometimes it takes a while to find them in the tank. But once I find them they are the prettiest fish in there

gouramis aren't the same speciesas bettas if they were they wouldn't be gouramis. They share the same family but different genus and species.
