I just noticed that most of the bigger shrimps are carying loads of eggs under them. Can i expect them to live or will they just get eaten?

I have the turboflotor 1000sl. It is very quiet. The only noise frim it will be whatever noise the actual pump makes, which is minimal. And it can be located outside of your sump if you wish.

Also, I believe you referrred to your skimming action with the overflow, along with the noise. This has recently been addressed by manufacturers. They put in a double wall overflow. The first one has slots in the middle or bottom, then the internal one has the normal slots at the top.

As for the sump area, look into marinelands tidepool system. It has three trays for the media, and a bio wheel. I found it to be extremely quiet for having a thousand gallons an hour going through it. The only trouble with it is I felt the sump area was too small so I installed it into another tank.
