the pet store says the water is good a little high in ph but after talking to her she said it sounds like the air stomes might be sucking in smoke from the wood stove since i put the pump om the top of the fish tank just recently. any comments wwould be appreciated! i have since unplugged the air stones for safetys sake and adjusting the ph down a bit

i wouldnt mess with the ph at all, its not a good idea...

a stable ph is better than a changing ph imo...

ur fish will need the air pump... i suggest connecting it back up away from ur stove.

Smoke from the woodstove. Wow. I don't know if they're full of it or not, but at least they're creative!

Well, at least it's a testable hypothesis. Good luck to all your fishes...

forget the fishes, if you get that much smoke from a woodstove, call a chimmeny sweeper now before you get sick or have a fire.i can't see a little smoke changing your ph, most tanks are about 4' off the floor at the top, and there's no way you could have 4' of smoke in the room with you.
i'd check any driftwood or rocks you've added, and test your tapwater after it stands for a night and see if it reads the same as your tank.
