I am interested in buying a baby whale or two.

First question,
Do Baby Whales fight amongst themselves?
I've read that some species of fish, Red Tailed Sharks for instance, fight amongst their own kind, so you are better off with just one in the tank.

Second question,
Are Baby Whales strictly carniverous? Or will they eat flake food?
I've read and been told both cases by different people and in different articles.

Scientific Name. Pollimyrus castelnaui ?

Behavior. There are several species of fish that vary in shape and are called Baby Whales. All Baby Whales quarrel with each other. They have an interesting shape that looks like a miniature whale. They are not closely related to the mammals called whales, but it's fun to call them Baby Whales.

Baby Whales are members of a group of fishes called Mormyrids.
Recommended Diet. Live Black Worms and other live foods such as live brine shrimp. Most Baby whales will also eat frozen brine shrimp.
Compatibility. It is recommend you keep one Baby Whale or several but not a few. If you keep 2, 3, or 4 Baby Whales together in the same aquarium, the strongest one will often make the others miserable. In a group with 6 or more the stronger Baby Whales become less aggressive.
You need to watch your Baby Whales carefully each day to be sure the strongest one isn't making the weaker ones miserable.
Size and Life Span. These Baby Whales will grow slowly to be 8" long and can live for 6 to 10 years or sometimes even longer.
Appropriate home. An aquarium with at least 29 gallons of water, an exterior power filter with a bio-wheel, a maximum of 1/4 inch of gravel, and an aquarium heater adjusted to a temperature between 78 and 82 degrees F.

If it had a spout hole. Then that would be magic. Ooooo and if it did the whole tail splasing thiing (small scale) and made those whale noises, then it would be amazing!

As I dont think it will, from the pic above it doesent look all that special?

Please change my mind if you know anymore about them though.

Agreed. :p

They use electrical signals to find their food. Besides that I don't think there is too much else that really sets them apart. But there also isn't too much special about fish such as tetras, cories, gouramis, and plecos.

My lfs (my friend owns the store) had one of these in not too long ago. They are pretty cool looking, but extremely aggressive towards other fish. I dont think it would be a very good community fish. She had it in with a baracuda (and boy you should have seen the teeth on the baracuda!) but the baby whale was taking CHUNKS out of the baracuda. So just keep that in mind too :D

I once had a baby whale and he was a baby when i got him (only 2 inches) I recommend keeping them in a heavily planted tank with very very peaceful fishes or by themselves. Mine went into a community tank and mysteriously disappeared never to be seen again :-( Awww is miss my moby!
