I bought 5x shrimps from a shop & they have given birth to 8x shrimps at the moment. there are 3 pregnant shrimps & 2 males.
BUT!!! my tank is not ready for the shrimps as its not cycled properly yet! what should i do!

I have a 1.5 ft tank
drift wood with taiwan moss
4 sheets(5" x4") ricca
cooling fan

Have you got a test kit? I would keep an eye on the water stats and do lots of water changes if it starts to look bad.

Where are you located? If you can get some cycled filter media from somebody local then i would add that to your filter.

Hi=D
im located in Singapore. i for now i only have a ph test set (Ph currently at 6.6) havent gotten Ammonia & nitrate yet cause i dont have the money to get them yet=/
as for now the adult shrimps looks healthy=D but not sure if the young shrimps are still ok.. cause its pretty hard to find them with the naked eye=/

If you can't get the test kits then 50%Water changes everyday until you get the kits. Shrimp do not produce alot of waste but in a tank that small the water quality will go bad quickly. Be careful not to overfeed.

Fingers crossed time! Most adult shrimp will survive in conditions much worse than those we are told to keep them in – many baby shrimp will die in the best conditions we can provide. Go figure! 'Life' is a lottery, and a shrimp tank will prove it..!

If they have survived when still with the mother they shoul dbe fine to be honest.

Cherries are really easy to look after and if the mother did not find the water comforatble, she would have dropped teh eggs before they were ready to swim off!

As posted by another user... they give off very little nitrate and waste so you should be okay and the tank will cycle ::)

Keep us updated!

I know that this might come a little late but I don't think this is such a big problem providing that you don't feed the shrimp and just let them pick on what ever they can find for a few days. Shrimp produces so little waste even when they are eating and hence the reason why they can survive international posting which sometimes takes up to ten days. I've sent shrimp to italy in a 750mls bag filled with water and the 15 shrimp all arrived healthy. You tank is obviously much bigger than 750mls and you will have a big error margin and as long as you keep up with your weekly water changes, the tank will matured slowly without any casualties
