A update on the baby fry Platies that a wanted to get eaten I'm happy that i didn't, there are getting bigger now and and eating good. This morning I counted 17 so i was thinking what will be the best time to hand them over to my LSF and the best way to catch them as i tried this when i notice them in my tank four weeks ago but no luck getting them out. I was told the best way was to turn off the light and use a little torch and get a net? but I aways could get my fishing rod to catch them :)any advice will be kindly received.

My Micky Mouse fish had 10 Fry (1 died so have 9) and my Fancy Guppie had 17 babys and I am planning on taking them to the LFS but keep a few for breeding. I think I am going to wait about 3 months so they can get all there color and stuff. so ide say once they are fully colored adults that would prob be the best...

Thank's :)

Sounds like you have a few fry on your hands, i think am going to wait like you say for them to show colour and remove them to the LFS. But it's nice seeing them grow and swimming around with the other adult Platies :)

my blue spotted female had 11 or so fry too!! its my first batch and i am very excited about it. they are very small

Cool :) have you got them in your main tank of fry tank? what will you be doing with them. Mine most of been in the tank on the first day i put the platies in as the next day i thought i was seeing things when i done a water change and said i thought i seen some thing small swimming pass the front of the glass and just left thinking it was something else, until the next and seen more of them :) all are bigger now and swim up to the top of the tank taking food flaks.

congrats on your platy babes,i must admit that platy fry are harder to catch than guppies,it use to take me ages to catch them, whereas guppy fry hang around the top and easier to get a net under.

It they're still reasonably small,i'd use a turkey baster to suck them up or take the siphon off your gravel vac and use the hose to suck them into a bucket during a w/c,then just net them out :good:

I have now 7 fry getting bigger doubled in size, the others when to another fish keeper that took them out of my tank as i had too many. The 7 little fish are happy and the other big fish don't bother them :)

glad to hears everything going good :) i have 2 platy fry left still in the main tank and they got a bit bigger. they have the spots that the mom and dad have....blue spotted platy
