 Yesterday I found 2 baby fish in my tank. The only livebearers I have are platies, so i am asuming that these are also platies. I have seperated them in to a breeding net. i need advice on how to look after them i.e. what to feed them & how long to keep them seperated for I am not sure which fish gave birth and if there will be any more. I have had a good look around but have not found any. Any help would be very much appreciated.

By now the others would probably been eaten.
keep them separated from the adults until they
are bigger than thier mouths.(about 2 months)
You should feed them finely crushed flake food.
they also sell liqoud fry food in pet shops or you
can put some live plants in and theyll feed on the
infurosia that live around the plants. If you are going
to feed them give them about 4-8 pinches of it a day

hope it helps /welcome to the forum :D

Thankyou. I have only had the fish 2 weeks and didn't realise that one of them was pregnant. What signs do I need to look for in future so that I can be better prepared? thanx for your help.

At the advice of my petshop I have put more plants in my tank. I had some before, but decided to put more in so that they can hide. Is there a limit to how many plants to put in a tank?

no there is no limit of plants
mark the date she had babies
on the calender and in 1 month
she will have babies again.
then you will be prepared

My swordtail has what looks like white cottonwool on one of his fins, it is only a small amount but big enough to see. Can I treat him & the tank, without harming the babies in the breeding net?
