Hi , can anyone help me with problem i have , i have a tank that is especially for baby fish , and i put three baby platies in 2 weeks ago, now i have around 60 Honduran red point babies that i have put in a net trap in there tank. If i was to let all of them into the tank at once would the platies bother them?

I ask this because when i was watching the parents looking after the babies at the start one got caught in the current and strayed off so i caught it before any other fish did and i decided to 'save ' it by putting it in with the platies , but immediately the platies were trying to eat it , and i've never seen it since. So should i wait till the hondurans are bigger before i let them in with the platies or will they be ok being put in all together? The hondurans are only around 4 days old.

Ideally the bigger the better, but at the same time, I'd watch out for ammonia spikes.

Also, inbreeding might not be the way to go?

Hmm... When the HRPs(Honduran Red Point) get older, they will eat the platy fry. But since you are only using the tank for fry, then I would suggest that you move the platys into the breeding trap, and let the HRPs in the tank. Just a suggestion.

I was thinking that but thought it might be abit cruel since they had the tank first lol, but if it's best for all then guess i'll do that instead , thanks for replying :)

Best solution is to buy another tank :hey:

Personally I would leave them to grow bigger, if they grow like convicts do you should be able to release them after a week or so, but the longer you give them the better.

Haha, but yeah, I would put the HRPs in the tank, and tha Platys in the breeder trap.
