Hi i need help ! when cleaning my pond last night i have seen there are about 20 baby fish they look like grass carp. The thing is i only have one grass carp in the pond size about 11" i do have about 15 gold fish and 2 golden orfe this may be a silly thing to ask but if the babys are garss carp then i was thinking maybe there may need to be two fish to make the babys ? lol all the babys look like 100% grass carp so what has gone on here then ? i dont know nothing about fish breeding it was only the other day i was going to buy a few more grass carp fish ( defo will not need to now ) and i had no plan to try and breed. I was thinking maybe there goldfish and might get colour when they get older but i really dont know. I am sorry if this is a silly thing to ask but anyone know abit more about fish breeding that can give me abit of info can fish cross breed , do gold fish have there full colour when babys ? why do i have lots of baby fish that look like grass carp if i only have one grass carp lol any help would be great there not a problem at all its nice to see my pond is doing well for a change lol

Goldfish are carp too, so they can maybe crossbreed?

We had carp and goldfish (or similar) and they definitely interbred :)

Most of this type of 'carp' are really all one species, the different breeds you see are just varieties, everything from leather, crucian, mirror, grass, auratus etc. same thing really.

Thank you all for your help ill just enjoy the little ones not seen any since about 2 hours after cleaning the pond but i did have to move all plants to clean pond so im just thinking they have gone back to hiding now thanks again for your posts back :good:
