Why would you even bother leaving it in for a week, regardless of whether it was bad or not? Would just make a mess

I leave 2 inch lengths of cucumber in my tank until its gone, i do peel it first though. Normally after 3 days its all been eaten anyway and i might find a very small piece floating on the suface. My clown loaches love it as do the Kribensis. Ive also been trying some lettuce that i've poured boiling water over. That seems to be going down well with the kribs.

I believe the advice was given to someone worried about going on holiday and not having anyone to feed the fish. ??? Will see if i can find it.

I wouldn't have to worry about it being left as it is usually gone by the time the lights go on the next day.
