OK. Here some questions to all. What do you do if you saw your babies betta have some deformation on the tail? Like the tail bend or the body tail bend?
I need help since I saw 5 that look like weird in the red halfmoon babies.

If it's something that will affect their lives significantly, it would probably be best to cull them. Do you have some other fish to feed them to? If they could live a fairly normal, happy life, you could consider giving them away as pets. Best of luck!

uhhm, before you're so quick to cull them off...how old are they? What does the caudal look like?

I'd cull them. Even then, I would be suspecting similiar deformities from others. If there was, I wouldn't breed any of the spawn or those 2 parents together again.

They swim ok, eat good and they were big too. Only 5 in the batch of 250 so far. All looks good. I think because the movement of the water and bubble are too strong when they hatched in 5 days. I know the water current just push the babies down pretty bad at first. Might bend some of the babies. I think I will let them growth big and give away to people. Actually the bone body tail just bend up a bit. I don't think the parent have bad genetic since both are from top breeder and so far most of the babies are pretty good shape. :p

If they really look bad later, just put them in the mouth of flowerhorn LOL.
This is the flowerhorn I mean. LOL

If you feel they can survive, you might want to keep them in a separate tank when rearing them.

However, you will end up having to keep them, since you probably wouldn't be able to sell them.

Yee, since you have a hungry mouth to feed them to, I'd go ahead and watch their development for another week or two. In two weeks time you should be able to tell without a doubt if they have spinal deformaties. If they do, toss 'em to the flowerhorn or be prepared to try to adopt them out or keep them. Good luck, thats a pretty big spawn!

Oh. they swim and eat like normal babies betta. Just look weird with crooked a bit tail in the back bone tail. It is kind like accident. The tail fan are fine. If I am right, I put the air bubble too strong to force the water current flow and hit the babies. That is my 2 cents of what my observation.
Opps, the parent are making the second batch now. Mating and squeezing eggs! Work hard for me. LOL

get a picture of the tail part and the fry them selves........ :grr: :alien:

I wish I lived closer to you. I'd take one off your hands. :D

Hahaha. You want? Sent shipping and materials cost and the bettas will be there in 3 months. LOL
Well, the pair done embrancing today and a big nets. Eggs? more than 500 eggs. 800? We will see how tomorrow midnight! :)
