Many months ago, my guppy had babies. And shortly after so did my molly.

We managed to keep quite afew alive and well in a breeding net. They got to 9 weeks (been advised that was a good time to let them into the tank) but they were still TINY. And i mean tiny.

So, over the past couple of months we have been trying them in the tank, one at a time. And our angel fish has eaten the ones we put in there within hours.

Now, they're not growing anymore in the breeding net, and they are too small for the tank. (I think this is because of the size restricitons of the net and the amount of babies in there)

So, we have decided to move the angelfish into the breeder net until the littler fish have grown big enough so he wont eat them. He seems alright in there, and he can move about freely.

Is this an alright thing to do? I know its not ideal, but i dont know what else to do. Im sure it wont be to bad for him for a couple of weeks? (providing that once every few days i collect up the babies, then let the angelfish swim around for a while in the tank. And...stretch his..fins... :p )

Otherwise we're going to have stunted babies that will alwys be too small to go in the tank.

I have given some of the babies to my mum and in her tank they are 2x the size already. And we only gave them to her 2/3 weeks ago..

These fry are now about 6 months old and still not as big as our neon tetras.

Bad idea, If you want to keep babies you need a second tank. Basic facts, You'll stress the angel fish to tears in the breeding net and honestly I wouldn't be shocked if he died in the net :(

Anyway, Source yourself a cheap tank and go from there!

Feck.

Thats that idea out then and i cant afford another tank. :(

I dont know what to do now then. I'll have to go talk to someone in a shop around here for advice i guess.

Thanks.

It's not the end of the world, I just wouldn't keep an angel in a breeding net for a day let alone how many days you plan in having him sit in there.

But, Breeding you gotta be prepared really. It's not easy and most fish will eat the babies right off. If you don't feel like you can spare a second tank then let nature do it's thing and feed them to the angels (At least thats what I'd do)

They'll breed again, there's no doubt. A plastic tank is only gonna cost ya pennies :p

But its getting a heater for it aswell that i find so offensive.(And all other effects) Not only that, but im going to be moving out in a matter of months and we're having to leave the tank with my boyfriends dad. He wouldnt cope with 2.

I cant bring myself to feed them to the angel. I just...it feels wrong.

I think im going to take the babies to the shop and let them sell them on. Its the only option that im happy with tbh.

I doubt they'll pay you money for them but it's worth a try.

try a tank divider. they are way cheaper than a new tank and you could seperate the angel and the fry... i have a molly and seperated her and her fry from my angel and the other fish till i  could get my other tank set up. it worked for the time being.
