Axolotls With No Filter?

No I only have the one tank and it's in the middle of a fishless cycle itself.
Currently I'm thinking transfer the axolotls to the new bigger tank, leaving everything behind in the old one-pebbles, wood etc.
Then cycle the filter in the old one and keep up on water changes for them in the bigger tank.

aslong as there is something in the old tank it will cycle, if it's empty then it wont.

Well I'm thinking take advantage if what bacteria there are as nickelplates said in my other thread and then adding ammonia as in a fishless cycle.

That'll work, aslong as the bacteria are fed. This doesnt have to be ammonia, it could be fish food

Right, got the tank today and my plan isn't going to work. The filter is the full height of the new tank (40cm) and won't even nearly fit in the old one to cycle.
So now I'm going to have to cycle the filter in the old tank and leave the axolotls in their current one.
It's a lovely big tank and seems slightly wasted on them as they stay at the bottom quite a lot

To be honest, axolotl's prefer shallow environmments, gebnerally no more than 6-7 inches.

You don't tend to see tanks like that though do you, and certainly not as a freebie like this one!

Well thats the environment they prefer. It's up to you if you want to do it or not...
