hey guys im going away for the weekend just saturday and sunday i would like to know if it would be okay that my fish would survive...my sister has offered to feed them but im vey unsure of that she might over feed so i just told her to keep the lights on would my fish be fish be fine if not feed saturday and sunday.

perfectly fine. Tropicals can go for much longer without food and be ok. I've left mine for over a week on many occassions.

I second that!

Only thing I would suggest is that you set your light cycle on a timer if you haven't already done so.

Lights would be better left off than on, if you haven't a timer.

They'll be fine for two days; it would be stressful for the fish to have the lights on for that length of time, but the plants would be fine.

Obviously you'd need a timer if you were going away for longer :)

Have a nice time, btw

The fish will be fine for that length of time. If I'm honest, I've gone longer than two days just flat out forgetting to feed them.

Really I jist dont want to be coming home to dead plants or fish

Really really. Most fish can manage a week without food easily, so a weekend is nothing. If you're really worried about your plants you can set your lights on a timer, but again, they'll be fine for a few days. I don't have my lights on a timer, I just have them on while I'm there and there are some times where I'm away from home for a few days and they're fine.

Don't be tempted to buy one of those holiday blocks you see in shops. It sounds like an ideal solution but the abundant and constant supply of food means you may well come back to a tank full of algae.

just put the correct amount of food into one of the many plastic measuring cups left over from medicine/dechlorinator containers.
wrap it in plastic lunch wrap to keep fresh.
tell sister to put that in.
hide the other food.
simples.

I have plants

With 72 hours of consistent light your plants will suffer. You will also most certainly birth an algae bloom. But most importantly both your fish and plants need a rest period. Fish sleep! Think about what it'd be like if you were forced to be awake for 72 hours.

If you don't have a timer may I suggest you turn the lights off and open the curtain. While not ideal they will adjust to the natural light cycle or what they can get of it depending on where your aquarium is situated.
