Hi !

I am going away for a week so I am going to purchase an automatic feeder. Well, I already bought one but I am taking it back to get a better one. I only have one fish in the tank. My question is, has anyone used a timer for the lights? I was going to set the tank light on a timer for about a 1/2 hour a day, and a regular stading light on a timer for about 4 hours. This is for the fish.
Since it is now getting dark earlier and it very very dim when the lights are not on where I live, I thought this would be a good idea for the fish.
Everyone I know lives to far away to come over to feed the fish sadly.
Any thoughts?

thanks a bunch!

Yup I set one of my tanks up yesterday on a timer, just a basic one with the pins that you push in or pull up depending on the times you want the tank on, it comes on at 1000 and goes off at about 2130. Seems to be working a treat.

I was thinking about purchasing an atomatic fish feeder for my new fish i'm getting because i have to stay a week at my aunts, the bad thing is they are 35$ hers a link........ atomatic fish feeder

Thanks for the tip everyone!

Goldfish, if you look at the link you put in your post, you can see the one I had, yep, I took it back today, and the one I bought in replace of it.
I had the Automatic Feeder from Hagen. I took it back and got the Proquatics automatic fish feeder.

:)

I definately recommend getting lights on Auto, its ideal for me as I work shift work so not around at most normal times of the day.

Hi Lithril,

I bought an automatic timer today. I am testing it out as I type this post.
How many hours would you recommend leaving the light on? The top of the light gets hot after a while.

The lights all got hot after a while, but that is okay.

Leave the light on for 3 hours or so.

I must admit my fishlights are on for about 10 hours a day but then I've got a lot of live plants in there.
