Auto Refresh Function...

An auto refresh function built into the webpage would be handy on pages like Emergencies and Chat.

Hopnestly it wouldnt. Then you would think someone is online when their not... I personally don't liek the auto refresher after knowing that.. LOOL

Another potential problem with auto refresh is that you could be typing a reply and have it refresh and you lose everything you've typed.

Couldn't you just add it to the actual forum, instead of the reply page?

Most of us use the Fast Reply button and if you are typing in a reply like I am now and it refreshes, you will lose everything you have typed. To me it's not that big a deal to simply click the refesh button if I want it refreshed to see what new threads/posts are out there.

Also, this is a little off topic, but doesn't Firefox come with an auto refresher? How do I turn it off?

yes press refresh or even f5 to refresh. hehehe
