I bought an Australian Blue Lobster yesterday for my freshwater tank. It is only 2 inches right now. I have seen photos of other ones which are a very deep/dark blue, however mine is more of a light sky blue. Will it develop the dark color with age? Or am I stuck with a light blue lobster?

Thanks,

Jimmy

There are a lot of crayfish sites around and some have a very good gallery to help you decide which species you have bought as there are a lot of different species.

Try here : www.bluecrayfish.com

or here : www.crayfishworld.com

You should get together with Narayan - he's OBSESSED with his Lobsters (crayfish!) especially the BABIES which hatched yesterday. :S

You'll like having that guy a lot...they are a blast. When I got mine he was just plain old ugly cement grey. Then he started to get a little color in his claws; then along came the first molt. He came out a brilliant blue, and looks awesome!

Has he re-landscaped your tank yet?

Yeah, LOL

Narayan's lobsters are keen gardeners but have somewhat eclectic tastes in tank design!

I'll be having some of his liddle widdle baby lobsters when they're big enough so I'm wondering why I took so much trouble over the layout of my new tank!

My first australia blue lobster was pale in colour, he was very young. However, each time he shed his skin, the colour deepened. When he (sadly) died, he was a very deep blue. Be patient, the colour will change ;)

Keen gardeners???, more like bulldozers. My two heave rocks about, rip out plants and then sit amongst the carnage with an expression of "Hey look what i did, I dare you to set everything up again!".

Tch! they mock me!

:D
