I believe I have a condition.  LOL!  I have this one tank that I have been getting ready to set up.  It's only a 10 gallon.  But I have already changed my mind a half a dozen times about what is going to go in it.  I have a huge list of fish that I think are very pretty and every time I do some research in hopes of shortening the list.... I find more!  Gahhhhh!  So I am convinced I have ADTD.  I have no clue what will end up in this tank.  But I can assure you one thing... it will probably take me a loooooong time to work through this list!  lol  How do you all seem to quickly decide what to put in your tanks?  Over the next few days more parts/pieces will be here for the tank.  But as I said... the list of possible occupants continues....   it is a little frustrating (considering my options should be quite limited for just a 10 gallon).

If you are doing fishless cycling (as I hope you are!) to get it ready you'll have a few weeks to think about it! lol

lol! You would think! I really want to try it. But I do have the benefit of just transferring mature media too. I may have to just put all their names iin a cookie jar and just draw at random.

What type of tank are you going for? FW/marine, cold/tropical. I know it's a tropical forum but not exclusively so! lol
I'm cycling a 30L for a male betta - got my eye on a lovely purple one!

I choose fish by what I like, that's always important, then what my water is like and then what is available to me and what will fit/ suit the sized tank. Keep these things in mind as well as fish compatibility and similar biotype (eg temps and lighting) and you should end up with an easier list to work from.

If it helps draw up a grid down one side put the fish species you would like to keep, then across the top put the tank size required, pH, gH and temp required even plants. Some fish will demolish plants in seconds others will just appreciate the scenery. Then mark the various points which shows which fish are potentially compatible with regards to water requirements. Then double check how friendly/ social. easy going the fish are. Its a lot a research but its also sort of fun while being important to prevent heartache down the track when your prized fish just wont thrive or worse get along.

Great advice! I am starting to go over the fish a little more in depth now. Now...as I narrow my list down I just have to slap my hand from adding more! lol
