I am attempting to spawn my first pair of bettas (crownies) the only problem is the male is not showing much interest at all...it has been about 2 or 3 hours now I have the female in the vase. Can anyone help me? I put another male next to the tank and the female started flaring at him and he was flaring back.
The one I put by her I took the other male out and put the one sitting by her in with her at the same time female is still in the vase incase anyone got the wrong idea lol. They are flaring at each other like mad but the male is not looking at her when he flares he like struts around the vase is this a good or bad sign?

The only thing Im confused about is the female is flaring back and every now and then trying to bite him. The male is not blowing bubbles yet....Humm Im so anxious.

females do flair back at males but ive never heard of one wnating to bite the male... you sure its a girly?
some males only start makeing a nest at nite

Lol for some reason I am thinking this plakat is a female?!! I wish I know 100% sure and if it is I will be so excited! The female in the vase is biting back which i think is a sign the plakat is a female cause when the crownie was in there the female didn't bite back or flare!

females attacking the male isnt a very good sign....
as for the bubblenest thing my first spawn didnt have a bubblenest but the lil guys still hatched

maybe they are not ready. what i usually do is i would put the male and female jars side by side for a few days. after that u will noitce bubbles in the male jar ...and the females belly starts to get swollen abit. it a sigh that they are ready. once together...and if u do not have any positive result after 8 days, u should separate them. if the female are of similiar size with male, she would flare her fins, otherwise she would submit willing to a bigger male.
breeding betta is very easy actually...u just need to be a little patience.

provide plenty of weeds for the female to hide from a over excited male

look at the foam ...it should be thick. a sign the male is really in the heat

oh..yes they do bite, sometimes they do alot of damage , especially wild females breeding for the first time. i once tried matching a female PK giant with a male HMPK, which was sightly smaller then her ...she torn the male to pieces..by the first hour.

There is a flash but these are the best I can get with my camera. sorry
Yuck I don't kno how to resize pics.
