At What Age Can I Place Platy Fry In My Main Tank?

I have Platy fry in a separate breeding tank and range from a day old to 4 weeks - My main tank has clown loaches, Bristlenoses and 3 adult Platies.

Just wondered when it will be safe for the fry to be introduced to the main tank without them being chased endlessly for a quick meal! I do have 2 quite large breeding nets so can always keep them in the main tank out of bounds of others for quite some time. Your opinions please.

when there big enough they wont fit in the other fishes mouths. i leave mine between 1 and 2 months depending how big they are but the biggest fish i have in my tank is a molly

It's more a question of size not age.

The platies and pleco will only eat a couple never to many even day old babies.
The clowns will eat them though until their to big. This depends on the clown, half inch will be safe though i would think.

in they dissaper then u know you have to grow them on a little more!

Thank you so much - will leave a while yet. I have six 4 week old Platies which are growing nicely and will let them grow some more before letting out into main tank - I will test one unfortunate soul before others, but not until I am 100% confident he/she is big enough. I have about 20 other younger ones also.

Do you think after the Platies have grown large enough a stint (day(s), week) in a large breeding trap in the main tank would help acclamatise the fish or is this a pointless exercise?

thats will not be a problem just move it over like's a new fish in a bag and then keep an eye on it, if it's to large to be eaten the u can introduce the other's at a later date.
