Should I use plastic plants or real plants

My fry will be in a breeding net so they wont get to eat the plant

Also, what do you think is the best colour plant for a tropical aquarium?
I can choose from green, red, blue, and silver

I myself am planning to buy a green and red
but cant decide whether to buy artificial or real :X

I have a mixture of real and plastic plants. Eventually I would like ot have all real plants. At this point, however, I don't have enough money to get enough plants for three aquariums. For the time being, I have a fair bit of Elodea in all the aquariums. The fish all seems to like it. I see the Platy nibble on it. I have a few Elodea plants in the breeder net with the fry, and they seem to like hiding in it.

As far as color goes...whichever you prefer. :)

Good luck!

Live plants are nice and look really good, but you have to be careful they get enough light. Also, if you add medicine you have to remove the plants.....had a whole 10 gal tank go toxic cause the plant died......colors are your choice of course.....my 55 gallon tank is all green and reds (plastic) and some other colors in the ornaments....good luck with your choices!

I'm definitely all for live plants, I can't stand fake ones. Just make sure you get plants that aren't very demanding, and if you're short on light, get plants that only need low light, etc.

i would defo say live because they look so muxh better and are good for the aquaium

I've never removed plants in order to use medication - pretty good thing too as its a heavily planted tank.

Like alien anna,I never remove my plants when I medicate my fish. However,I know there are certain things that may be harmful to them and they usually let you know before you pour them in your tank.
I have only live plants,I gave up plastic a few years back but,I have nothing against them.Remember some of the plants are very demanding, and others would survive just any water condition.Just have to do your homework.see which ones best suit you.In a perfect world you may have beautiful natural ones with more colorful fake ones.

I'm glad you haven't had problems with the meds in the water with the plants. However, in my situation, I believe its the copper in the meds and tap water that don't get along with the plants......
