I haven't heard anything bad about them, but tonight, I saw our arrow crab try to grab our new firefish and now looking on the internet, I am reading horrible things about them. We haven't had any trouble with him before now, should we get rid of him or just kinda watch him and see?

Anyone got any advice?

Olive, I have an arrow crab. They are great for keeping down the bristle worm population. However, they will also eat small shrimp and small fish as they get bigger. Mine just took down two cleaner shrimp at $20.00 each. Get them small, take them back to the LFS when they start getting larger. Now are you sure that he was trying to catch the fire fish? They will stick out the front legs to ward off any entruder, some times it looks like they are being agressive.
Good night, cant see the screen anymore.

True, at times they are just warding off others. But I did have one, and the larger he got, the more trouble he caused.

As they grow larger, they seem to develop a taste for shrimp. They are neat, but I will never have another one.

Yikes!
I got him at a pretty good size, and he has shed his exoskeleton twice now that he's been to live with us. It wasn't until last night that he has actually tried to get a fish and pull him in closer to him. Before we got the firefish, he would just stick a let out and shoo off any other fish, but it was like he was "hugging" the firefish, and it really freaked me out.

Maybe I will call the LFS I got him from and see what kind of policy they have on trading these suckers in on something else...........I haven't had to do that yet so wish me luck -_-

I wonder if I will ever get him out of the tank since we have so much live rock for him to hide in! :S

I just took mine back today, he was getting too large. Thanks for reminding me.
I have over 200lbs live rock, and he was very easy to catch. They are not runners, they will stick their legs out and try to scare you off, just grab a leg and pull him out.

OO I WANT, I WANT

Hey olive, I don't know the fish you have, but you might want to look into sexy shrimp. I have read lots of fun things about them.

they only get 1 inch though so might not be suitible if you have gobblers in there. I was thinking arrow crab for my macro algea refugium.

LOL, I have the LFS looking for sexy shrimp for the refugium on my nano. I plan on feeding them to the reef tank, also any plants I can grow in it.
