Are you treating with any medication at the moment??

No signs of white spots around their gills? or reddish or inflamed gills at all?

Could it be merely lack of oxygen in the tank?

I have not medicated them, and the gills appear to be normal, how can i add more oxygen to the water? I dont have an airstone, should i leave the tank lid open?

You need the surface of the water to be quite disturbed. So you could raise your filter so it creates a flow, or install an air pump and air stone.

Leaving the tank lid open wouldn't do anything i'm afraid.

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
What the make of the test kit you are using\?

Any chemicals gotten into the water during the water change.
Been using any chemicals near the tank.

Lower water level in tank so the the filter hits the water harder.

Any signs of flicking and rubbing, darting, erratic swimming, excess mucas, white greyish film on fish, spots, vistable parasites.
Do the gills look pale with excess mucas, red and inflamed.
