Arggh! Help!

One of my neon's is throwing a fit... keeps flopping around and then not moving and floating on the water, whenever I take the lid off it goes into a fit again then just stops and floats, like it's dead - I'm sure i'm gonna lose it but what's up with it?? Please don't say I have to kill it

EDIT - Also, it's bloated

EDIT 2 - Floating upside down on the surface but still breathing (really heavy though)

EDIT 3 - It's basically struggling to stay underwater.. i'm thinking it's swimbladder???

News isn't good mate. I had the same problem with mine, lost it about 24 hours later. I have no clue what was going on, same erratic behaviour as yours though, I will preform a chant to the gods for you, but they are still angry about my last fish dying. Best of luck.

What are your water stats?
Tank Size & other inhabitants?

Swimbladder is a possibility, but so is an internal infection if it is bloated and in some obvious discomfort.
Any other symptoms?

Sorry but the fish is dying, the bacteria infection has progressed.

He's still alive - swimming normally but VERY pale... will the infection spread to other fish?

Could just be swim bladder... but if it's already that far gone, it might be too late.. will it eat? if it will try feeding it a piece of pea.. other then that, keep the water as clean as possible.. do a 20% water change everyday.. if it makes it through the night

If it is a bacterial infection, it could be passed to another fish, so you will want to treat the whole tank regardless what happens to the neon.

The Neon is fine today!! He's very pale but other than that he's perfectly normal! Swimming just fine!
