I saw a yellow CT at my local Petco and was comtemplating about getting it. The tail seems like it's a delta but I'm not sure. I will take some pics if I get it tommorrow. :fish:

There was one, a male vt, in my lfs this week, but he had some white spot and I believe it isn't so easy to cure in bettas. Tell me if I'm wrong, I may be tempted to see if he is still there!

If he's swimming about ok, then I should imagine he'd be fairly easy to treat. It might be worth mentioning it to someone at the lfs and see what they say. Most staff at the shops are helpful and may tell you what you need to know.

They often have fish with ich or just dead ones in the tanks there. I have mentioned it to them before and they say they are being treated. I have found that any fish I buy from them usually die and often cause death to any other fish they are put in with (normal tropicals). I lost nearly a whole tank of guppies once after adding a couple of new ones.
I very rarely buy from them now, but I like to look in case they have anything unusual in. (Good reason to always quarantine new fish!)
I think I may go back in tomorrow and see if he is still there. :good:

I have a yellow or creamish color female that I bought from Petsmart for .99 cents a few months back. She was real small at the time I bought her, she is getting quite a bit bigger now. All the females at our Petsmart are .99 cents, the males range from 3.99 to 5.99. This is the only femal yellowish color betta that I've seen, I live in Illinois so they may not be that rare, don't know.

It depends where you live and who is supplying your stores. The Petco near me CONSTANTLY has yellow VTs, CTs, and sometimes deltas. They're getting as "old hat" to the people near me as red VTs, so a lot of them are just dying in stores from neglect. There is also a Petsmart near me that has started carrying an unusual number of yellow VTs. Same thing with neglect though; one gorgeous male had septicemia. I wish I'd had the space for him. :-( Settled for pointing him out; hopefully they'll treat... though I doubt it.

As for Ich in bettas, it does seem to take multiple treatments, but I wouldn't call it "hard" to treat. I just recently was given by a manager a CT from a new shipment who was COATED in Ich; I mean, it was on his eyes and everything - looked like he'd been rolled in salt. He was very pale, clamped, and gasping and looked about ready to keel over. I've done 3 treatments now, and he's happy, healthy, eating well, and coloring up. He still has a few specks on his tail, so I figure one more treatment will do it. Well worth it, I'd say!

Well I went ahead and got him but I think he has septicemia so I'm treating him with Marycan2. He has visible blood vessels on the base of his dorsal, anal, and caudal fins and under his stomach. :(

 what a pretty boy....will keep my fingers crossed at least he has a chance now. :good:

From the pictures, it doesn't look like septicemia to me. The blood vessels at the base of his tail are just obvious because he's light colored and somewhat see-through. Good luck with the ich, though. :)

Yeah I'm beginning to think it's not septicemia and normal. I just looked up some yellow bettas on aquabid and they have similar visible blood vessels too. Anyway I'm already into the 3rd day of a 5 day treatment so I'll just wait until it's complete. So far the blood vessels don't seem to have gone away so I don't think it's septicemia. He's eating fine and pooping too so I don't think there's anything wrong with him. He doesn't have ich either. Anyway thanks everyone for your help and support. :)
