Hi Everyone.

I'm new to betta keeping and the betta i got was a vt but i just loved the colours ! he's pink, blue and purple and i called him betty. (i thought it suited his colouring lol) I I have him in 16x8x8 and looked into it before i got him, but he has been very sluggish. He hides away in the plants and rarely comes out, half the time you cant even see him it looks like an empty tank. Everything seems ok other then him. Any ideas ? Any tips ? I want to do the best for my little man. Would anyone like a picture ??

What size is the tank in gallons? Do you use dechloranator when you add water to the tank? Are there any other fish in the tank with him? What are the water stats of the tank?

Is the tank heated? I find that when the water is cooler bettas become sluggish, which what happened with my bettas in my divided tank, but I added a heater and they are pretty active now.

Betty sounds lovely

The tank size seems great to me so maybe he just needs a little time to settle down. How long have you had him? You do get some shy bettas that take a lot of trust before they will come out for you, frustrating but there you go.

Heating is important as MegTheFish says, too cool and he will be quiet. I like to keep mine at 79.

I hope he perks up for you soon and look forward to seeing pics :D
