I was on vacation and came back to find that my GSP and zoo's are all closed and won't open. The GSP has some brown stuff growing around their polyps and the Zoos are closed shut and won't open. They haven't opened for over 2days so I think something is going on. I've tested the params...

Ammonia= ~25
Nitrite:0ppm
Nitrate:0
PH: ~8.0-8.1

I just topped off the water to bring down the salinity which might have been the problem. I'll do a water change later tonight and see if it changes anything tomorrow morning.

Also, I can see some GSP polyps barely popping out. Maybe that's a sign of life?

I would dust them off with a turkey baster. Also check your Alk and Calcium too. Mine were closed for 2 days once but they opened up again eventually. I would also do a water change, along with making sure your SG is correct. Can you get someone to check your salinity with a refractometer?

Why is your ammonia positive. Corals can't tolerate ANY ammonia. SH

Agreed, big water change, and err on the side of low specific gravity.

I think maybe he accidentaly put the nitrate reading in ammonia's place. I don't know of any test kit that will measure ammonia up to 25ppm.
Otherwise wouldn't everything else be dead, too?

He might have forgotten a ".".

Hopefully everything is better.

Any new news Mr.September15?
