Are These Rainbowfish Cheap?

So, I was at PetSmart today, and I saw some Melanotaenia Splendida (labeled as Australian rainbowfish) for $1 or $2 each. I've been wanting to get rainbowfish, and I was wondering if this was really cheap or not.

Any information is much appreciated. Thanks!

Around here they are $10-15, I got some on sale for $5 but they were from an "assorted" tank, I have no idea what species they are still

Where do you live? I am go to PetSmart a lot and I don't think I have ever seem them that cheap.

Yeah, the common Australian rainbowfish they sale at petsmart are usually $1.99 or on sale for $1.00, at least where I'm at. This is very reasonable, but they are one less colorful rainbows available.

Yep, those are the common Rainbows that have been around in the hobby for many years. A really nice, underrated fish in my opinion. That price is very good.
