Whats up

I set up the old 3 gallon tank as an oto tank and feed them algae disks. Anyways just 2 days ago bought a companion for my single oto.

Now when i got home today i found these on my plants.

are those oto eggs?

Btw: know the plants look a bit crappy but liquid flourish fertilizer didnt work. I just added plant spikes and also change up to the seachem onyx sand so should be nice and healthy like my other tank within a week or so :)

man these fish are spoiled :p

nope this tank is my small 3 gallon and only has two oto's

Cool

Since I left home for a haircut and then got home those in the picture above you will notice their is 5 of them. Well in the top picture two are like solid white.

Now three of them are solid white and the others are starting to do teh same thing.

I was surprised to see them so quickly and talk about luck to have a female and a male lol.

Anyone know how fast they should hatch so that I can see teh little fry swimming around?

And is each egg one fish or is it multiple fish?

If they have gone white they may have died. This often happens the first couple of times until they learn to protect them properly and do it in the right place.

Good work though.

Hi WhispTech :)

Don't give up yet. If they still have a solid look about them, they might still be good. It's when eggs get fuzzy looking that you know for sure that they have gone bad. In the meanwhile, try to keep water circulating around them.

At the very least, you now know that you have a healthy pair of otos, and the future could well bring more eggs.

Here's a link to a site that might have some helpful information:

Good luck and let us know what happens. :D

Well they put them right under the out take of the filter system on the plants so should be water movemnet.

I did some water tests today and my nitrates and nitrites seem to be very high.

no idea why.

think the fertilizer sticks could have anything to do with this?

I just put in some liquid fertilizer yesterday too?

amonia is perfect

buffers are a bit off though but not bad.

fish look healthy and nice dark lines.

and eggs are solid looking no fuzziness that i can see even with my magnify glass

Hi WhispTech

I'm glad that they still look good. Until you find out specifically how oto eggs should react, keep hoping for the best.

I suggest asking in the plant part of the forum for information about what the fertilizer might do to your water parameters, and in the meantime, do water changes to get it back to normal. :D
