Are These Good For Plants

Not being funny here:

Any unit is good for plants as long as you put tubes in that are suitable for plants.

In answer to the question : Yes there are power compact tubes fit for purpose here.

Namely If you are after 2 then Interpet Daylightplus and Triplus combo could work. Or ASL alternatives.

Try aquatics-online.co.uk and see what the tube prices are. Normally about £15 each!!!!

Ryguy is in the US, but you're exactly right! Yes the fixture is a good one. The bulbs are not so great, unless you are planning Marine. The 12000K color temp is a might high and Actinic is more for Marine. For Freshwater planted, try and find a 65W with a color temp between 5000 and 9000K. The fixture supports a straight pin, so look for 65W CF straight pin bulbs designed for a 24" fixture. They sell them at big Al's online and other places. The bulbs can be expensive, but the fixture you looking at has a pretty good price. Mine cost $124 at Big Al's. My tubes are about $25, but they last about 2 years. I mix a 6700K with a colormax, as I don't like the effect of two 6700k. The moon lights are an added bonus. My fixture doesn't have moonlights.
