Hi all,

Just noticed some white eggs on my plant, but not sure if they are snail eggs or my corydoras have spawned.

Can you please advise? See the video below. There are tiny white eggs on the plant leaf

Those look much more like fish eggs to me than snail eggs...

If you do have snails bte, and you want to hatch these, I would remove the snails or eggs, as eggs are a tasty immobile snack to many snails!

Agreed. I'd say you've got some little corys on the way :)

I removed them from the plant and put them in a small breeder box. There are only 5 eggs, so I can't hope for too much.
However, they do look a bit greyish/off white color. Is that normal for corydoras, or I am saving some monster snails :)
And how long does it take for them to hatch?

there are pictures in my thread of eggs taken shortly after they are laid, then again after 4 days...shows the color

they hatched after 5 days

Please provide a link. :)

Thanks Chokko, nice pictures.
I think mine were not viable and got fungus(sum seathrough jelly around them). I gave them to the guppies and platies.
I have four albino cories, but have no idea if any of them is a male. Two of them are chubby with bellies and 2 smaller and skinier.
I actually thought the other day before seeing the eggs that I must have overfed them, as the two big ones look like they are going to explode :). However, I have not seen them spawning and there were only 5 eggs on the leaf.
We'll see, maybe next time..
Is there any sure way how to distinguish between a male and female corydoras?

Basically the smaller skinny ones are probably the males, chubby ones the females :)

Its more than likely the eggs would have been munched,if they've spawned once, they probably will again :good:

Have a read here at my Albino spawning log, shows eggs/t position & fry :)

Good luck :good:

Brilliant thread harlequin. I now know who to ask if my cories spawn again :)

After watching the videos,hmmm...maybe I do have 2 females and 2 males. I would love some little babies like these. They are super cute:) Good job

Thanks Snazy :)

I do miss my babies, bless them... The albinos have been resting for the past month,so i expect they might start up again soon...

My albino corydoras just spawned again. I was wondering why they were frantically racing the tank walls, when I saw a bunch of eggs on a leaf and then some on the heater and glass, about 10 of them in total so far :hyper:

I managed to save a few before one of the males ate them, but I forgot that I shouldn't expose them to air. It took a few seconds, but do you think they will again get fungus?

Actually, how long after they spawn should I wait before I move the eggs. They have to get a bit harder, don't they?
There are more now, so I think I'll wait a bit as I smashed one of the previous ones. It was very soft

Well, fungus on the eggs again.
I must try a different tactic next time in preserving the eggs.

Do you guys do anything special, like adding methylene blue, putting the bubble next to the eggs, etc..?

I use an airstone under the eggs to prevent fungus, although i've just had a batch hatch, and most were infertile, probably due to only have 1 male with 2 heafty females

i've never used meth blue,so can't comment.

I thought a saw them in the "T" position and the two smaller ones that I think are the males were even more excited looking then the female dropping the eggs.

However, second time now the eggs turn whitish and then get fungus in the space of 24 hrs :grr:
I put them in a plastic breeder box strategically positioned over the bubbler, but no luck.

Next time I'll try in the net instead I guess as the plastic breeder box may not have got enough water movement.
Or they were not fertile both times...I don't really know.

i peel off the eggs and then carefully stick them back onto the glass in my fry tank. unfortunately my fry tank has 2 month old corys in it at the moment and they would probably eat the eggs, so now i place them into a plastic ice cream tub with an air line bubbling away in it.

Just setup a second fry tank last night, new filter going in tonight ready for the next lot, which might have hatched by the time i get home ;D
