Bought these 6 fish a few days ago. Were labelled as Glowlights and asked for confirmation from the staff as they didn't look quite like I remembered them to be in other LFS I visited prior to this visit to P@H. My 11yr old daughter insists that they are not Glowlights and upon doing further investigation think that they look more like black Neons. Can anybody give me confirmation on what this fish is (there are a couple of neon tetras in the pic too) and what are my rights ?? I am so angry that they may have sold me the wrong fish.

Yeah they are black neons. As for your rights, they are not as discribed and you are entitled to a full refund.

I suggest taking a picture of glowlights and black neons when you return them to prove they are wrong.

Another example why you don't bother with P@H. Its unfortunate but they really are useless up and down the country. Only thing i would ever buy from there would be a cheap clearseal tank if i needed one and plants, they are amazing for getting unusual Tropica plants in.

Go get a full refund i would.

Presumably you wanted glowlights because of what they look like? So if they didn't look like that, why did you buy them?
I'm not trying to have a go, just wondering what they'll say when you take them back. It's not as if they were in a box labelled glowlights and you didn't see them until you got home. There's no question of them being unsuitable as they'll grow too large or something like that is there?

64ltr is fine for black neons, which is what they are.

These are glow lights, which have a distinct red line across their body and red on their fins;

glow lights

Out of curiosity, did you know what glowlights looked like, prior to buying?

I like black neons tbh, one of my fav neon fish with more personality that certain others. Second would be bleeding hearts

Maybe Liverbird thought their colour hadn't come out properly coz they wern't in a nice tank yet? I know I made the same mistake with my first 2 Honeys (RIP), I thought their pale yellow was just stress. Turns out I think that they just wern't a very healthy strain.

It's all easy mistakes to make when you're new and it's not like black neons and glowlights look THAT different, it's just the colour through their middle that does.

Though I do have to add to Liverbird...........DUH!

Yes I did know what Glowlights looked like as had done a lot of research before buying them. I did question the staff and was told they had finished spawning and that the colour dies down which I knew to be correct with various species of fish. Pardon me for not being a walking Fish species encyclopaedia, and no I wasn't intending to take them back as are currently treating them for whitespot. I wanted to know what my rights were as they owe me money for the 4 Guppies that died due to the whitespot and wanted to know if I would have the right to replace the dead Guppies with the Glowlights I should have been sold in the first place. I am yet to learn how different fish look at varying times during the spawning period so yes i'm a bit of a thicko I guess. Just wanted clarification not shooting down.

Defintly black neons, I have a few glowlights myself and they are defintly not glowlights lol

Thanks. I had the photo posted up of them saying they were Glowlights and no one said a thing so presumed the LFS was right.

you are not a thicko at all!

If the guppies you got had whitespot from p@h and now with the selling of wrong fish, I would slap a formal complaint into the store manager

nicer fish if you ask me, ive wanted some for ages but dont have the room..... keep them they look nice :good:

I am a bit Peed off to be hones so apologise for my tone as it's not meant personally to anyone. Another of the Guppies is on it's way out now so am presuming it's a bit of a dodgy batch. Spoke to the store this morning about the Guppies and they have given me the treatment free and offered to replace the fish but have decided not to buy more Guppies as the experience has really upset the kids. I love the Black Tetras even though not quite what I wanted and the store even after being emailed a photo of them are still insisting they are Glowlights which even I can see now they aren't but they have promised to replaced the Guppies with the Glowlights. I have never seen a Black Neon before as hadn't considered adding them so yes now I know what one looks like then yes the difference is obvious. Wishing i'd stuck to birds :(
